Texas Distance Challenge Announces Partnership with CLIF Bar & Company

When the founders of The Texas Distance Challenge (TDC) kicked off discussions in March of 2020, their goals were to simply provide a fun, interactive, and unique challenge to TDC’s participants while showcasing and supporting the great state of Texas. Since then, the challenge has morphed into something much more substantial.

A significant step is to focus on partnerships, and boy did they strike gold on this one. TDC announced a partnership with CLIF Bar this Thursday. Hayden sat down (virtually) with CLIF’s Texas field marketing team; Jeanine Romine and Christina Yamanaka, to discuss the partnership. Check out the IGTV Live interview or read the transcript below!

HS: First of all, thanks for joining us! Could you tell us a little bit about what y’all do at CLIF?

CY: As Field Marketers, we are responsible for exploring opportunities to enhance CLIF’s brand while driving brand awareness on site with consumers. We travel across Texas to different events and activate CLIF’s brand with product giveaways, promotions, and other fun items!

HS: Sounds like a fun gig! I hear you are adventurers yourselves?

CY: You betcha! We love to run and ride. We live in Texas, so the TDC really hit home for us. It’s perfect! We have a cycling team that’s trying to Ride the Loop, The Texas CLIFsters! A ton of CLIF employees are adventurers as well, so we are super excited to launch this partnership. We’ll be sharing TDC on our internal newsletter this month to spread the word!

HS: Perfect segue, what attracted CLIF to this partnership?

CLIF: When we learned about TDC’s pillars of promoting health and wellness, supporting Texas businesses, organization, and clubs; PLUS supporting outdoor spaces that we all share… we were SOLD! This not only gives CLIF the opportunity to enhance brand awareness, but to help spread the word about the awesome challenge y’all have created. TDC and CLIF have common goals and structure, as we are employee and family owned. We wanted to support Central Texas!

HS: Could you expand on what makes CLIF such an awesome company?

CY: So many reasons! Our favorite part about CLIF is that our main focus is to make food that nourishes adventure while consistently doing our part to make the world a better place. CLIF has a heavy commitment to organic ingredients and sustainable agriculture. We invest in programs and sourcing that drive value for communities where we source, work and play. To throw some numbers at you, 90% of our waste is diverted from landfills, and 100% of our facilities use green power for electricity.

HS: Nourishing adventure, I love that. Furthermore, I hear that CLIF recently launched a program to help fight COVID-19?

CY: Yes! It’s called Feed the Fight. Overall, we’ve donated 14,000,000 bars to Frontline Workers at hospitals, food banks, and other places in need of food across the country. In Texas specifically, we’ve donated 212,000 bars to Texas hospitals, large and small. Additionally, CLIF has sent 180K+ bars to Houston Food Bank, and 45K+ to Central Texas Food Bank.

HS: Incredible!! 14,000,000 is A LOT of bars. How did you pull this off?

CY: Since the start, CLIF has always focused on giving. During COVID-19, everyone is struggling, so our leadership decided to help where we could. We’ve made some changes internally to keep our employees safe, while trying to help others as well.

SO, what does this mean for TDC participants? Surprise! You will each be receiving one of CLIF’s NEW coffee bars in your participant packet. We will be mailing these out next week!

Additionally, we are launching a #TDCCLIFPhotocontest CLIF photo contest! We are calling ALL participants to post a photo to their feed with the hashtag #TDCCLIFPhotocontest and tag @Texasdistancechallenge.

The theme: Caring for your outdoor spaces. We’ll leave this up for interpretation and see how creative y’all can be! The winner of this contest will received multiple CLIF bars, a CLIF branded facemask, and a CLIF hat!

PRO TIP: If you are participating in the contest, make sure you profile is set to public so our team can see the photo!

That’s it! ‘Till next time, Dillos!
